Nigel McDonald of NiMAC is honoured to receive the 2016 UKLA Presidents Award

On the 2nd of November 2016 over 300 members of the UK lubricant industry’s most influential people gathered at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London for one of the most prestigious networking events of the lubricants calendar, the UKLA (United Kingdom Lubricants Association) Annual Dinner.

The evening of fine dining and networking was completed with formal proceedings including the announcement of the chosen recipient for the UKLA Presidents Award.

The President’s award is given to an individual who in the view of the UKLA President has made an “outstanding contribution”.  The UKLA President Steve Mayo presented the 2016 award to NiMAC’s own Nigel McDonald, as recognition for his ''outstanding and sustained contribution to the UKLA''.

Steve also mentioned that “Nigel was instrumental in ensuring the prudent management of UKLA’s finances over the last 8 years overseeing a near doubling in turnover of the trade association”.

On receiving the award, Nigel McDonald commented ''I've been attending the annual dinner for many years now and been a big admirer of the previous Presidents Award recipients, the names of Hugh Dowding, Michael Hornett, David Neadle, Peter Vickers, David Jukes, John Alton come immediately to mind and I was honoured to be associated with these people by being the recipient of such a prestigious award in front of my industry colleagues.'

UKLA Secretariat stated  “The President’s Award was discussed and agreed upon by the UKLA Secretariat, David Wright the UKLA Director General, Steve Mayo and Hugh Dowding, who was the outgoing President in September of this year, having served a year in post from September 2015. The President’s Award is usually given to someone who has had made a significant contribution to the UKLA, it was felt that Nigel was the natural choice to receive this years award. All our members have day jobs so their contribution is given on a purely voluntary basis and these awards are a small way to recognise their contribution and show our appreciation for the time they have given to the UKLA”.

The United Kingdom Lubricants Association is the UK's lubricant industry lead trade association. It represents over 100 companies who produce the majority of the UK's £2 billion, 800,000+ tonne output. Members include multi-national major oil companies, independently owned lubricant manufacturers / marketers and the sector's raw material suppliers. Its activities are currently being widened to encompass distributors and stockists, end-users, academics & individuals; in fact everyone involved in lubricants, beginning to end.

In 2013 former President of the UKLA and employee of NiMAC David Jukes was also awarded the UKLA Presidents award.  This certainly sets the bar high for current and future employees of NiMAC.  Watch this space!
